Leading a healthy lifestyle, adhering to medications, and regularly visiting healthcare providers are all important in preventing diabetes complications. Here are some actions you can take to manage your diabetes and prevent complications.

Maintain a healthy diet by eating foods that are low in sugar, saturated fats and high in fiber such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Get regular exercise as this activity can lower your blood sugar levels, improve your cardiovascular health and help maintain a healthy weight. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. Take your medications as prescribed and make regular appointments with your healthcare provider to help identify any potential complications early on and allow for timely treatment.

At Nazeeri Family Medicine, we can help you with managing your diabetes, and many other health conditions, such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol and make sure they’re managed effectively so as to reduce your risk for diabetes complications.
